The Woman behind the machine…
Who is the woman behind the machine? My name is Teresa. I am a wife and a mother of four. Both roles of which I cherish. My family is especially important to me, and I always have them on my mind. I am a giver by nature and have always had a strong desire to help others. I try to be as efficient and organized as I can be and that serves me well in sewing and creating.
My sewing and handcrafting bug started back as a child. Watching my grandmother crochet or handpiece a quilt was intriguing and once she showed me how to do the “granny square”, I played with that for a while. Around the same time, I found a cool pair of jeans at a yard sale, but bell bottoms were out. At eleven, I altered them to be straight leg instead, and wore them proudly. We did not have a lot of money then and I did not like wearing my brothers hand-me-downs!
In my early 20s, I picked up the hook again, I was hooked, and everyone received afghan’s for Christmas! However, it is with my own family that first prompted my true sewing/embroidery/quilting habit and fabric obsession. Whether it was a desire to make a dress for my girls, a vest for my husband and boys, a quilt just because or spruce up a pair of jeans for my kids, projects were always born with them in mind.
And, sewing just makes me happy. It is always amazing to take material, cut it up and sew it back together again, forming something new. And the warmest part of it all? When you give it to the person it was meant for and see them seeing it for the first time.
JWEAR Inc. gives me the chance to do what I love! I am one person behind the machine. My family rallied around me. A small business making things wanted and/or needed for my family, and for you and yours! I try to source materials from small businesses, local when possible. I believe that if we help each other and support each other’s businesses, we will all succeed!
And, I have not forgotten how busy we were when our children were small; how crazy it got when each were going in different directions as they moved into their teen years, and I see how busy our children are in their lives now. Always on the go, always some place to be and there was always “stuff” we needed then, and they need now. And I know the same is true for you. So, a good bag or two that looks nice and is functional is a must-have and who wouldn’t like a matching wallet to boot!
My desire is to make functional and fashionable bags with quality and care for anyone who wants them as well as expand in a few other areas. My hope is that your JWEAR bag makes your day easier, your on-the-go moments efficient, that new outfit complete, or just makes you smile!
